Lab data from your air system
HVAC Mold Testing in Anaheim, CA
When an HVAC inspection raises questions — dark debris on a register, a musty odor when the system starts, or a history of drain pan overflows — testing provides laboratory confirmation of what is present in the system.
HVAC testing combines surface samples from accessible components with air samples taken while the system is running, so you can see whether the system itself is a likely source.
What can be sampled
- Supply registers and return grilles
- Accessible duct interiors near registers
- Filter housing and return plenum surfaces
- Air at supply registers with the system operating
- Room and outdoor baseline air for comparison
The process
How hvac testing works
- 01
Visual review
The system is inspected to choose sampling locations.
- 02
Surface samples
Tape lifts or swabs are collected from suspect components.
- 03
Air samples
Air is sampled at supply registers with the system running, plus room and outdoor baselines.
- 04
Lab comparison
Results are compared to determine whether the system is contributing spores.
Report & lab details
HVAC testing results
Surface results confirm whether growth exists on specific components. Air results at registers are compared with room and outdoor baselines.
The report explains whether findings point to the system as a source and which components the results relate to, so HVAC contractors can scope work accurately.
FAQ
HVAC Testing questions
Should the system be running during testing?
For supply air samples, yes. The inspector will tell you when to turn it on or off during the visit.
Does HVAC testing include the whole duct system?
Sampling is limited to accessible components. Inaccessible duct runs are noted as not tested.
Can testing tell me if duct cleaning is needed?
It provides data to inform that decision. We do not perform or sell duct cleaning, so our findings remain independent.
